Mobile home fire displaces Chaparral family

CHAPARRAL, NM —

A family of five is displaced after their mobile home caught on fire on Friday afternoon.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s officials said the fire happened on the 300 block of Luna Azul in Chaparral.

Dona Ana County fire crews as well as several volunteer fire departments responded.

Officials said when crews arrived the double-wide mobile home was already fully engulfed in flames and took crews 20 minutes to put out.

Red Cross is assisting the family that consists of two adults and three children.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
