"We recognize in law enforcement that we have a responsobility. It doesn't matter where you are from, when an adult makes an outcry that a child could be in jeapordy," said Rick Glancey, spokesperson for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's officials say they began searching for the missing immigrant boy after a human trafficking bust Friday night. They say an immigrant woman came forward saying her 7-year-old son was missing. Sheriff's officials say the woman is from El Salvador and she was among the immigrants found hiding at the Golden West Motel on Alameda. Officials say she told them she had been seperated from the boy when they crossed into the United States about three days earlier.

"When she was crossing the desert area in east of Tornillo she lost sight of her 7-year-old son and her husband," said Glancey.

Sheriff's officials began looking for the husband, Carlos Roberto Alvarado-Rivera, and the little boy, named Carlos Antonio. They didn't issue an Amber alert because they say the mother didn't believe her husband was a threat to the boy.

Working with the mother, sheriff's officials were able to track down family members who told them they had spoken with the boy and his father. They are apparently both safe, although their exact location is still unknown.
