Melting Snow Creates Hassle For Drivers

Related

EL PASO, Texas —

Snow blanketed the Franklin Mountains for the fourth time this season, creating a picturesque scene more reminiscent of a place farther north.

"Just lived up in Idaho so this is normal," said Onie Cooley, of northeast El Paso.

But the winter weather was more of a hassle for drivers trying to make it to work. Melting snow, combined with freezing temperatures, created a somewhat precarious situation on the roadways.

"The drive, it's pretty dangerous," said Francisco Alvarado, of northeast El Paso. "You have to go way under the speed limit or else you might get in trouble."

Both Scenic Drive and Transmountain were closed Tuesday morning because of the conditions.
