EL PASO, Texas —

A Malayan tiger and Sumatran orangutan joined the El Paso Zoo family.

Belahat the tiger and Butch the orangutan joined their mates at the Asia section of the zoo.

Belahat is 13-years-old and traveled from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Butch, 27, came from the Cincinnati Zoo.

The zoo's goal for bringing both animals are to have them breed.

According to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, both species are endangered.

"We are happy to have Belahat and Butch in our care. Both of these animals are extremely important to the survival of their species and we are looking forward to having a successful breeding between Belahat and Seri and Ibu and Butch," said Asia Collections supervisor Griselda Martinez.
