Mayor John Cook Delivers Annual Address

El Paso Mayor John Cook delivered his annual State of the City address Wednesday afternoon.

The mayor touched on a variety of issues in his speech including the devastation caused by last summer's flooding and the $200 million cost of repairing the damaged infrastructure.

He also noted how Fort Bliss's expansion will impact the city. One man who heard the mayor's speech told KFOX it made him optimistic about El Paso's future.

"A lot of hope for the future. space It makes you feel like everything is taken care of," said West El Paso resident Juan Carlos Diaz.

Cook also talked about the massive federal investigation now engulfing El Paso County government.

He said regardless of the outcome of that investigation, city council will pass new and tougher ethical standards.
