Mayor Explains Ethics Commission Procedures

EL PASO, Texas —

The city of El Paso does have an Ethics Review Commission for situations like the airline ticket incident involving Rep. Rachel Quintana.

The way the nine-member commission works is someone must file a complaint to the commission, and then, the commission will possibly hold a public meeting about the complaint.

Mayor John Cook said, "Any member of the public can ask for it, any member of the media can file an ethics complaint."

The commission will create recommendations that will then be sent to the mayor and city council.

The mayor says so far, no complaints against Quintana have been made to the commission.
