Man suspected of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend arrested

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

A Las Cruces man who was accused of kidnapping and robbery was arrested after U.S. Marshals found him Tuesday.

Jerald M. Martinez, 27, was with his girlfriend on Aug. 26 when for unknown reasons didn't allow her to leave her home, said police. 

Martinez then took her keys and cellphone and took off with his girlfriend's mother. 

Law enforcement officials found Martinez Tuesday evening at a home on the 700 block of Tamariz Court in Las Cruces. 

He was arrested on charges of kidnapping, robbery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with conditions of release. 

Martinez is being held on two separate bonds totally $70,000 cash.
