EL PASO, TX —
A 22-year-old man is in serious condition after a rollover crash on Transmountain Road early Saturday morning.
El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials said the crash happened after 3 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Transmountain Road at reference point 19.
Investigators said the driver of a red 1997 Chevy Cavalier struck a center concrete barrier and rolled several times into the desert area.
The driver was ejected and found 20 feet away from his car. He was transported in critical condition to a local hospital.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash and it is unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt.
Both eastbound lanes were closed earlier Saturday morning but have reopened as of 9:30 a.m.
