EL PASO, Texas —

A rollover accident in northeast El Paso left a woman trapped inside her pickup truck after she has hit by a man who ran a stop sign Monday afternoon, witnesses said.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of McConnel Avenue and Lackland Street.
Police on the scene said the driver of a white sedan ran a stop sign and crashed into the truck.

Maria Sanchez, who was nearby when the accident happened, said she heard the collusion, saw the truck roll over and heard the woman scream for help.

"I came and I ran over here, I got to the truck and I tried to open the door," Sanchez said. "Some other people were helping me; they removed the back window. We were trying to be with the lady; talking to her so she could be conscious."

Sanchez said they were afraid to help the woman out of the truck in case she had a neck or back injury.

Police said the woman in the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The male driver is facing three citations for running the stop sign and driving without a license or insurance, police said.
