EL PASO, Texas —

An El Paso bicyclist is ejected from his bike while trying to outrun police and getting rid of drugs, police officials said.

They said Ramon Lerma, 55, was spotted by police officers riding a bicycle that wasn't illuminated in the middle of the street at Raynor and Porter at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday.

When the police tried to stop Lerma for illumination, police officials said, Lerma tried fleeing from them. Lerma fell off the bike while trying to get rid off a shoulder bag filled with 26 baggies of marijuana, a scale, 4 baggies of cocaine, 2 hard white pieces of cocaine and a folded up dollar bill with cocaine, police said.

Lerma was taken to University Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his face. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $13,250.
