EL PASO, Texas —
Juan Gerardo Gracia was founding not guilty Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a cartel-related shooting death.
Gracia was accused of playing a role in the death of Jose Daniel Gonzalez-Galeana outside of a home on Pony Trail Place.
The El Paso Times previously reported that state prosecutors allege Gracia helped his best friend, Michael Jackson Apodaca, to participate in the plot to kill Gonzalez-Galeana on behalf of Gracia's brother-in-law, Ruben Rodriguez-Dorado, who is also a member of the Juarez cartel.
Gracia faced life in prison if he was convicted on the charge.
