EL PASO, Texas —
Police said a deputy was attempting to stop Harrell when he crashed just after 10 p.m. Tuesday on Amador near 17th Street.
Harrell was airlifted to Thomason Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
"Apparently the driver took his eyes off the road for just a short time period but traveling at a high rate of speed, that's a good distance so it looks like he lost control of his motorcycle, that's why the accident occurred," said Dan Trujillo with the Las Cruces Police Department.
Police said their preliminary investigation suggests alcohol may have also been a factor.
