EL PASO, Texas —
Charges are pending against a man who apparently caused his car to roll over while arguing with his wife.
Officers with the Socorro Police Department who responded to the crash apparently found the couple still arguing in the car.
The crash was reported on Interstate 10 east near mile post 40. Police said Joe Martinez was driving a white Kia Rio and arguing with his wife, Gabriela Perez, as they were headed to Midland.
During the argument, Martinez suddenly turned the steering wheel hard to the right, driving off the roadway and onto a dirt shoulder where he lost control, causing the car to roll over.
The couple allegedly told police they had been drinking at an East Side bar before the crash.
Perez was taken to Sierra Providence East for treatment, while Martinez was taken to University Medical Center. Police said alcohol and speed were factors in the crash and charges are pending against Martinez.
