Man accused of stealing vehicles escapes while in custody

SAN ELIZARIO, Texas —

Local authorities need help in finding a man they said stole tractor-trailers and then got away while in custody. 

On Tuesday, Jose Antonio Estrada and two others were arrested in connection to stealing three tractor-trailers.

El Paso County sheriff's deputies arrested Estrada after they received an anonymous tip about the vehicles being hidden in the 600 block of Tortola Street in San Elizario.

Deputies arrested Estrada and his accomplices, Luis Rodriguez and Ever Gurrola-Pantoja, they said.

While investigators were questioning Rodriguez and Gurrola-Pantoja they learned that Estrada had broken free from his handcuffs and fled from the patrol station where the men been taken.

Estrada faces charges of escape, two counts of theft of a vehicle and an outstanding warrant.
