EL PASO, TX —

A 25-year-old man is dead after an early morning motorcycle crash in east El Paso.

Police said the man who was riding a 2004 Kawasaki ZX6, was killed around 2:30 a.m. when he crashed into a tractor-trailer that was turning into the Wienerschnitzel parking near Montwood and Lee Trevino.

Investigators said the truck was making a wide turn and the motorcyclist, who was riding south on Lee Trevino slid under the truck after being unable to brake or change lanes.

The motorcyclist was killed when he was struck by one of the rear tires.

No one else was injured, and investigators believe speed and possibly alcohol on the part of the motorcyclist may have been a factor.

Investigators are awaiting toxicology reports to confirm alcohol use.

This is the 17th person killed on the road in the city of El Paso this year and the 5th involving a motorcycle.
