Main Break Cuts Off Water For Hours

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso firefighters were called to the intersection of Delta Drive and Glenwood Street just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a water main break.

The first firefighters on the scene quickly learned that a large pipe had burst underground, causing thousands of gallons of water to spill onto the roadway.

El Paso police were called to the area to block off traffic and crews with El Paso Water Utilities were on the scene a short time later working to dig out the old pipe and replace it.

Nearby residents tell KFOX that they woke up to dirty water or nothing at all coming from their faucets. Water crews restored water service at 8:00 a.m. The area will remained blocked off until crews repair the roadway.
