EL PASO, Texas —

A black Labrador was found in El Paso, thousands of miles away from her home. Humane Society employees said she'll be reunited with her Washington family after being lost for nearly a year.

Easton, the black Lab, was rescued by a Humane Society employee who spotted her wandering the streets in northeast El Paso.

The 10-year-old dog was nearly hit by a vehicle while wandering Fred Wilson Street on Monday.

The Humane Society employee took Easton to her work to see if was microchipped, other employees said.

It turned out Easton was from Chelan, Wash., and had been missing since Feb. 2012.

Easton's owners were contacted and told of the miraculous tale. Employees said her owners were ecstatic to hear about their dog's whereabouts.

Employees said travel arrangements were made to have Easton reunited with her family.
