EL PASO, Texas —

More than 190 families in Los Colonias have running water Thursday.

The Sand Hills Water Improvement Project was completed. For the first time in that area, 193 families in Colonia del Paso and Ascencion have water service.

The Lower Valley Water District, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Rural Development broke ground on the project last August.

The $10 million project was expected to be completed by July, but two tanks were built on the wrong property, and vandalism set back the completion date.
