By Elena Arteaga

EL PASO, Texas —

A woman was seriously burned after lighting a stove oven in a Lower Valley bakery.

A spokesperson for the El Paso Fire Department said the accident happened just before 12:00 p.m. Sunday, at the La Poblana Bakery on the 600 block of Giles, when a flash occurred.

The accident left the woman with second-degree burns on the woman's face and arms.

She was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, where she was admitted into the intensive care unit.

The bakery was closed shortly after the incident, and the health department and Texas Gas were both called in to investigate the incident.
