Police looking for West El Paso hotel robbers

By Ruben Veloz and El Paso Police

EL PASO, Texas —

Police are looking for two people in connection to two armed robberies in El Paso, police said.

Police spent the night investigating an armed robbery at a west El Paso Hotel, after a man and a woman take off with a large amount of cash.

The robbery happened at the Mesa Inn on Mesa Street and Brentwood Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Police believe this is the second robbery involving the same man and woman who robbed a payday loan store in Central El Paso, police said.

Dozens of police had the hotel locked down with crime scene tape for two hours, preventing people from leaving the property.

A K-9 task force was also on the scene.

Several bar customers at the Hoppy Monk next to the hotel were frustrated because they weren't able to move their cars from the hotel parking lot.

One hotel clerk told KFOX14 news reporter Ruben Veloz that the robbers left with $500 in cash.

Detectives were able to obtain surveillance video of the robbery from inside the hotel lobby.

The employee said the man and woman were wearing a mask and dark sunglasses.

No one in the robbery was hurt, even though the crime scene was surrounded with red tape.

Police are asking anybody with information to call them at 915-832-4400 or to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.
