Police: Drunk woman causes serious accident

Maria Teresa Cuomo was arrested early Sunday morning by El Paso police after causing a serious accident, and for possession of marijuana.

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso police said a woman who was driving drunk caused a serious accident early Sunday morning.

Police said Mariam Teresa Cuomo, 30, was driving along Montana in Central El Paso, just before 3:30 a.m., when she crashed into another vehicle. 

When police arrived, Cuomo was seen trying to hide a small amount of marijuana. They said she also appeared to be intoxicated. 

Cuomo was arrested at the scene.

The other driver involved-- who was not identified-- was seriously injured. Their current condition is currently unknown.

Cuomo was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, under a $1,300 bond.
