EL PASO, Texas —

Police arrested a man for suspicion of drunken driving after he crashed through a busy intersection, police said.

Around 10 p.m., Jack Viramontes was driving a 2005 silver Dodge Durango and speeding on the 7800 block of Gateway East Blvd. and Giles Road, police said.

He hit the median, a pedestrian light pole, and his vehicle collided with a large rock landscaping and came to a stop, police said.

Three other cars received minor damage from the debris after knocking down the light pole, police said.

No one was hurt or needed any medical attention in the accident.

Viramontes was charged with drunk driving with a blood alcohol content greater than or equal to .15 and was booked into the El Paso County jail with bail set at $1,000.
