EL PASO, Texas —

Firefighters are investigating a series of five dumpster fires in West El Paso, firefighters said.

The first set of fires happened around 10:30 p.m., Monday next to a Christmas Tree sale lot on the 6000 Block of Mesa Drive.

KFOX14 news crews were there as firefighters put out two dumpster fires in the area, leaving charred paper and melted plastic behind.

Thirty minutes later firefighters were called to another set of dumpster fires at the Shadow Mountain Villas Apartments  at 5900 Enterprise Court, right across the street from the first set of fires.

Heavy clouds of smoke and flames could be seen in the area.

Firefighters put out three separate dumpster fires in the apartment complex.

Investigators believe those fires were intentionally set.

Police said one witness described seeing a green Jeep Cherokee leaving the scene of the fires.

Police tried to track down the car with the vague description, but were unable to find it, firefighters said.

No one was hurt, and no major property damage was reported.
