EL PASO, Texas —

Two boys were rescued by El Paso firefighters Sunday afternoon, after the boys got stuck in a water retention area.

El Paso fire officials said a group of four boys were reportedly playing at a water retention site off of I-10 and Resler Dr. near Doniphan and Frontera Rd.

The four brothers tried to rappel down a water reserve pipe using  make-shift rappelling tools, when two of them became stuck. The other two then left to go get help.

Upon arrival, fire crews were able to make visual and audible contact with the 13 and 14-year-old.

Officials said the water reserve pipe was 50-feet-deep.

There was no water present in the pipe.

Fire crews were able to rescue the boys in less than an hour. The boys were not injured, and did not require any medical attention.
