EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso police released more information about an incident at the Super 8 Motel near Hawkins and Gateway East boulevards in east El Paso.

As KFOX14 previously reported, police responded to the motel Sunday night initially in reference to a suspect with a gun.

Police spoke to a witness who said a woman was assaulted and forced into a vehicle that fled the scene.

The woman tried to escape and ran into a neighboring room for help when the man, later identified as Kiry Hakeem Nalls, chased her down, grabbed her, and threw her into a car, police said.

The investigation revealed that Nalls and the victim were in a relationship, and he held the victim against her will at the motel for a week and forced her into prostitution, police said.

During that time, Nalls cut the woman on both her arms with a razor blade, police said.

After she was dragged out of the motel room, she was taken to an unknown desert area where Nalls assaulted her, police said.

The two, along with Grant Rutledge, who was driving the vehicle, later returned to motel where they were arrested.

When KFOX14 arrived at the scene, police officers were seen trying to subdue Nalls. They took the suspect out if the car, when it appeared as though he started saying something, and resisted officers.

Police were then seen using physical force to get him on the ground.

Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Nalls was charged with aggravated assault – date/family violence; compelling prostitution by force, threat or fraud; resisting arrest, search or transportation; assault – date/family violence and unlawful restraint. His bail totaled $125,898.33.

Rutledge, 23, was charged with unlawful restraint, and his bail was set at $30,000.
