MONTANA VISTA, Texas —

El Paso County sheriff's deputies identified the man they said stabbed a woman at a Dollar General in Montana Vista over the weekend.

The stabbing happened at the store on the 14200 block of Montana Avenue in far east El Paso.

A spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office identified the alleged attacker as Omar Vasquez, 29.

Deputy Angelica Becerra told KFOX14 Vasquez approached a woman in the store and stabbed her. She said the victim was stabbed in the head, face, arms, and hands.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Becerra said they found Vasquez at a home on Lyman Lane in the Montana Vista area. He also sustained injuries from the stabbing, after it appears the knife he used had no handle-- causing injuries to his hands. He was also taken to a local hospital.

Their wounds are not considered to be life-threatening.

Vasquez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence.
