EL PASO, Texas —
Four people are recovering in local hospitals following a serious accident in east El Paso Sunday night.
The collision happened just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Montwood Drive and McRae Boulevard involving a red pickup truck and a white car.
Police on scene tell KFOX 14 both drivers each had a passenger in their vehicles. The two people in the white car had to be rescued with the jaws of life, but all four people were transported to nearby hospitals for injuries.
Witnesses say the accident happened when the driver of the white car ran a red light and t-boned the red truck.
Neighbors who live in the area said this was not the first accident at the intersection.
"It's very dangerous," said Casey Mcroy, who lives just around the block from the intersection and heard the accident happen. "There have been multiple accidents here, more than I can think of. I watched an explorer hit a semi and the explorer was gone."
It's still not clear if alcohol and speed are factors in the accident.
