EL PASO, Texas —

Detectives got a tip that they said could help them solve the double murder case in Socorro.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office officials said they received an anonymous tip Friday morning that led them to a canal off Americas Avenue, which is a few miles from where Wednesday's double murder occurred. Deputies found an abandoned Chevrolet Suburban and spent hours photographing it and searching the canal for clues.

Officials said the detectives who were first to arrive had enough to go on to believe it is somehow related to the double murder in Socorro.

The victims were identified as Luis Anotnio, 32, and Roberto Renteria, 19. They were found in a canal behind a home near Socorro and Apodaca roads the night of the shooting.

Neighbors said they heard six gunshots and told KFOX14 that the victims' throats were cut.

At this moment, detectives said they cannot exactly piece together how the SUV is involved.

"We are here trying to continue to find out if that vehicle is connected in any possible way," said Angelica Becerra, spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said they have not yet named a suspect and there is no update in the description of the killer, who is described as a white man with a thin build and light hair. They said the man may have driven a white Chevrolet Silverado.
