ANTHONY, N.M. —

A home in Anthony is declared a total loss after a fire tears through it Tuesday morning.

Doña Ana County Sheriff's officials said fire crews were called to the home on the 900 block of W. Joy Rd. at 10:09 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the home almost fully engulfed in flames and smoke. Fire crews from Anthony, Chamberino, Santa Teresa, South Valley, Mesquite, and Fairacres all responded to the fire. They also received additional help from Vinton's West Valley Fire Dept.

No one was home at the time of the fire, as the homeowners are currently out of town. The homeowner's son reportedly lives in a guest house on the property. An acquaintance of his was the first to call 911.

Fire investigators said three family dogs were inside of the home at the time of the fire. One was rescued, one ran off, and the third is still unaccounted for.  DACSO officials said neighbors were trying to find the dog that ran off.

The fire was contained in about 30 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries reported.

The American Red Cross will be assisting the family when they return.
