EL PASO, Texas —

Police are investigating a deadly accident that killed 33-year-old construction worker Jose Anguiano on westboundInterstate 10 near the Artcraft exit.

The accident happened around 12 a.m. Thursday, forcing police to shut down the westbound lanes of I-10 between Redd Road and Artcraft Road.

Police investigation revealed Cesar Rodriguez, 19 , was driving a minivan that rear-ended a Ford Focus, causing him to lose control and swerve to the right.

The minivan struck Anguiano, pinning him against the rear of the asphalt mill. He was taken to University Medical Center where he died from his injuries, police said.

Police said Anguiano worked for a private construction company.

Police said alcohol is not a factor in the accident.

Police haven't said if the driver will be charged.
