EL PASO, Texas —
Police say the driver of a Mitsubishi Endeavor may have been eating in the car when he ran a red light causing a four car pile-up.
The accident happened at the intersection of Montwood Drive and Yarborough Drive around 11:00 p.m. Monday.
Police said the driver of the Mitsubishi ran a red light while going east on Montwood Drive.
That caused two cars going north on Yarborough Drive to slam into the Mitsubishi and then crash into a Saturn SUV.
The accident also knocked down a traffic light at the median of Yarborough Drive.
Officers shut down part of the intersection for several hours until the light could be replaced.
Eight people were involved in the accident. No one was seriously hurt.
However, the driver of the Mitsubishi was treated at the scene for minor head injuries, police said.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was cited for failing to stop at a red light, police said.
