EL PASO, Texas —

With New Year's Day fast approaching, the El Paso Police Department's DWI Task Force, the sheriff's office, and the Department of Public Safety announced that they will team up to keep El Paso roads safe during the holiday.

Their combined efforts will focus on removing drunken drivers off the streets and to keep drivers safe.

"It is law enforcement partnerships such as this that benefit all El Pasoans," said Lt. Rodney Liston, commander of the DWI Task Force.

Starting New Year's Eve, 16 officers along with troopers and deputies will be patrolling throughout El Paso.

This operation is in addition to each Regional Command Center that addresses traffic issues within their regions.
