Local high school coach wanted on sexual assault of a minor charges

EL PASO, Texas —

A high school coach accused of sex crimes is featured in this week's Manhunt Monday. 

Christopher Miranda, 24, is wanted by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

They allege that Miranda on three occasions had an improper relationship with a student. He faces three counts of an improper relationship between an educator and a student and two counts of sexual assault of a child.

At this time, authorities have not said what local high school Miranda worked at, only that he is a coach. They added that he was placed on administrative leave.

El Paso police did tell KFOX14 Miranda is employed by the Ysleta Independent School District. A staff directory search on the district's website indicates that a Christopher Miranda works at Eastwood High School.

Investigators said Miranda is aware he is wanted by them and believe his is still hiding out in the Borderland.

YISD officials released the following statement on Miranda's allegations:

"YISD is committed to the safety and well-being of all students and takes any report which compromises that safety very seriously. Immediately upon receiving information of a teacher having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student an inquiry was initiated. Consequently the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave and the El Paso Police Department and Child Protective Services were immediately notified. The employee subsequently resigned from YISD. The District continues to cooperate fully with all law enforcement."
