EL PASO, Texas —

Some El Paso students in private and public schools held their own mock election as part of their education about today's presidential election.

The seventh- and eighth-graders at Jewish Academy voted for presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

Students also dressed up to play the roles of Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, Mitt Romney and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.

Alongside the candidates were Secret Service impersonators decked out in suits and sunglasses.

Students KFOX14 spoke with said this was an important lesson for them.

"I think kids should be able to have this opportunity before their actual time to vote for real. They get to put all these opinions in their mind to understand what they should believe in, not what their parents think," said seventh-grader Ethan Katz

Students said they worked on this project for several weeks before Tuesday.
