EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso's Board of Elections said it saw a steady flow of people heading to the polls on Nov. 6 throughout the county.

There are 191 precincts throughout El Paso County.

Each precinct, according to Elections Administrator Javier Chacon, was required to call and update the board of elections office on their voting turnout numbers throughout the day.

While some polling places had sporadic lines, some polls experienced heavy lines throughout the day, with some people waiting in line for up to 15 minutes.

"It's a privilege that I have to vote. Right? And so I have to vote. I want to vote, and I want to vote for the president of the United States," said Betty Macky, who turned out to vote at Olga Kohlberg Elementary School.

Macky said despite having a flat tire on Tuesday she was determined to find a car to use and get herself to her precinct.

While several people got out to vote for the presidential election, others said they were drawn to the polls because of controversial local issues, like the quality of life bonds.

"It's like jury duty, you know, it's our civic duty to get out and vote," said Jesus Sanchez of West El Paso.

The lines in the polls showed that people from all ages and backgrounds went out to vote.

Polls close at 7p.m. If you did not register to vote by Oct. 6 you could not vote in this election.
