Law Enforcement Touts New Gang Task Force

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

The first multi-agency task force project targeting gangs in Dona Ana County proves successful.

Law enforcement officers arrested nearly 130 people and issued more than 400 citations across southern New Mexico.

The agencies targeted Sunland Park, Chaparral, Anthony, Dona Ana and Las Cruces over three weekends.

Dan Trujillo with the Las Cruces Police Department said, “All the agencies still need the communities to step forward, identify suspicious activity, and call if there is suspicious activity in your area."

Trujillo said this is only the first of several planned roundups targeting illegal gang activity.
