Last Minute Preparations Underway For Sun Bowl 2008

EL PASO, Texas —

Crews got to work early to get ready for the big game between the Oregon State Beavers and the Pittsburgh Panthers.

The game will not start until noon, but at 4 a.m. crews at UTEP were preparing for nearly 50,000 fans headed to the stadium. The early crews were stocking concession stands, putting up decorations and even preparing the stage for the big half time show.

The game will mark the 75th year El Paso has hosted the Sun Bowl. The game kicks off at noon and stadium gates open at 9:30 a.m. Sun Bowl Association officials are also looking to break the Guinness World Record for the largest YMCA dance during half time, when the Village People will perform.

"Yeah, we are around the clock right now making sure that our pre-game,our half time, of course. The game is timed down to the second, so we have been going over and over and over the time to make sure when we come on and everything is a 'go,'" said Bernie Olivas, the Executive Director Sun Bowl Association.

All general admission seats are sold out, but tickets are still available.
