LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
The shooting happened around 4 a.m. when police were called to the apartment of 28-year-old Emmanuel Talamantes.
They said Talamantes was drinking before and randomly firing two rounds from a rifle toward Young Park.
Talamantes has a prior drug conviction, which means by law he isn't allowed to have a gun.
He was charged with negligent use and possession.
