ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The Las Cruces High School Bulldawgs clinched the state championship title Friday night against Sandia at Wilson Stadium in Albuquerque.

The Bulldawgs won its first football state championship since 2008, beating Sandia 35-28 in the Class 5A title game on Friday at Wilson Stadium in Albuquerque.

Las Cruces quarterback Jonathan Joy had two rushing touchdowns and two through the air.

LCHS scored the first 21 points of the game and led 21-12 at halftime. Joy hit Sam Denmark for a 52-yard score early in the third quarter. Las Cruces running back J.J. Granados scored his 34th rushing touchdown of the season to open a 35-12 lead.
