EL PASO, Texas —
Travis Bob Kirchner, 58, is accused of helping his mother commit suicide.
Kirchner confessed that his mother’s death was part of a suicide pact between the two, police said.
Patricia Kirchner, 83, was found dead at their home back in September 2008. Kirchner told police he and his mother sat in a running vehicle in their garage. She died of carbon monoxide poisoning, investigators said.
Kirchner was originally indicted on assisted suicide charges but he was later re-indicted on murder charges.
This week, a jury will decide whether the murder charge will stand.
Jury selection begins Tuesday.
