Jury Duty Scheme May Exist In Luna County

The Luna County district attorney's office is warning residents to beware of a telephone scheme where a caller warns of an arrest warrant for failing to report for jury duty.

Investigators said the scheme has been reported recently in Colorado, Oklahoma and Illinois.

While there have been no recent reports in New Mexico, the Luna County court clerk's office said a woman asked about a similar call last year.

The caller will ask for a Social Security number and birth date to verify information and cancel the warrant.
