Judges Court Appearance Postponed

EL PASO, Texas —

Two local judges were supposed to make their first court appearance Monday after being indicted last week on nepotism charges, but it was postponed.

Judges Manuel Barraza and Regina Arditti are accused of violating nepotism laws by hiring family members in their courts.

There was no word on why Monday’s appearance was postponed or when it will be rescheduled.

Justice of the Peace Sissy Hernandez is scheduled to make her court appearance Wednesday for also violating nepotism laws. An indictment alleges Hernandez hired her granddaughter Crystal Flores to the position of office specialist.
