EL PASO, Texas —

Bond was denied for two men arrested in connection with the 2009 kidnapping of Sergio Saucedo.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard Mesa denied bond for 39-year-old Joey Ashley and 42-year-old David Pena.

They both face drug trafficking charges.

Investigators believe both were responsible for the 670 pounds of marijuana seized at a border checkpoint, which led to the kidnapping and killing of Saucedo.

Mesa set 46-year-old Manuel Hernandez’s bond at $250,000 and 26-year-old David Octavio Calleros’ bond at $100,000 during the hearing Wednesday afternoon.

Saucedo was kidnapped from his Horizon City home in September 2009. His body was found in Juarez, Mexico.
