Juarez Officials Speak Out On Military Presence

Recent violence from our sister city has not only sparked fear in the minds of residents but officials as well.

In conjunction with local, state and federal governments, the mayor of Juarez has given instructions to allow Mexican troops into the city to help restore safety and order.

The director of civil protection said the effects will undoubtedly be felt throughout Juarez.

"Well, any place where we have Army, we have more security feeling, that is of course, so it's reinforcing the police that we have already," said Bernando Escudero, director of civil protection.

Escudero said, since last Friday, 1,200 troops have already arrived in Juarez.
