EL PASO, Texas —

Irvin High School parents said after new allegations of the school's dance teacher having sex with a minor and video tapping it fear who is in the classroom with their children.

Senior U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard Mesa described 34-year-old Irvin High School dance teacher and Viva El Paso choreographer Marco Alferez as a danger to society while denying him bond.

Alferez has been behind bars since he was arrested on child pornography charges last week. He was not only found to have child porn on his computer but agents said they also seized 140 home videos. So far, one video shows Alferez having sex with a minor.

“He's a good a relative. I don't think he's a menace to the community. He helps the community. He helps family, and he's an inspiration to the world," said Maria Teresa Garcia, Alferez’s aunt.

When the allegations first came to light last week parents were also in disbelief saying they would stand behind the man they described as amazing.

"He was a mentor to them, he spoke to them, he was a personal friend. I, myself, as a parent, totally supported him on his dance rehearsals, on everything he ever needed, I totally supported him," said Ali Gaselun, the school’s PTA president.

A week later some parents are now saying these latest allegations have them looking at their children's lives differently.

"You would want to go ahead and lookout for your children in their daily life and you would tend to want to ask them more what goes on in school everyday and if they don't want to talk about it wonder if this has happened to them," said Billy Jimenez, of northeast El Paso.

Alferez has been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. His trial date has not been set.
