Hundreds Of Wanted Area Fugitives Back Behind Bars

More than 250 fugitives in El Paso and southern New Mexico are back behind bars.

It was part of a nationwide fugitive sweep called Operation Falcon II.

The U.S. Marshals Office teamed up with local law enforcement agencies to track down people who've been evading arrest.

The operation took place between April 17 and April 23.

Authorities said it's taken a variety of violent felons off the streets.

Operation Falcon II was organized by U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Across the country, authorities nabbed nearly 10,000 fugitives.
