Home Badly Damaged By Flames

EL PASO, Texas —

Fire crews were at the scene of a house fire that started just before 7 p.m. Friday in the Upper Valley.

Dispatchers said the call came in as a house was erupting in flames.

Eight crews were sent to the 1000 block of Miss Bev Avenue to knock down the fire.

Neighbors said the family who lives in the home is safe.

"They were at Wal-Mart shopping. We had to call them so they could come over," said witness David Macias.

Crews were still tending to hot spots two hours after the fire started.

No one was hurt.
