Help On The Way?

A number of Hurricane Katrina victims in the Gulf Coast say they have yet to receive help.

The Federal Management Agency has deployed thousands of relief workers to the region.

But because the disaster is so widespread, the agency says it's very difficult to get to everyone in need right away.

FEMA is now under the Homeland Security branch, so they have been concentrating on terrorism.

President Bush says the government is doing everything possible to help.

The President believes it will take years to completely clean up these areas.

Yet many blame the fact that the Department of Homeland Security being too focused on terrorism, has taken away from them being better prepared for natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina.

El Pasoans we spoke with seem to think the government is doing all it can.

John Defusco from West El Paso says, "On such a massive scale of what has happened down there, things are moving about as fast as they said it would happen when they spoke about it before Katrina came in. They said what the timetables would be, and they are working towards those timetables."

President Bush is planning on visiting the Gulf Coast region at the end of the week.

Administration officials say he wants to be careful not to disrupt the recovery efforts there.
