Hazardous Spill Closes Las Cruces Street

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

The Las Cruces Fire Department is trying to contain a hazardous material spill on Picacho Avenue that has closed part of the street to traffic.

The Fire Department responded to 450 West Picacho Ave. just before 2 p.m. today after an adhesive roofing material spilled onto the roadway from a commercial truck.

Officials told KFOX that fire crews are formulating a plan to clean up the spill.

There does not appear to be any immediate danger to residents in the area of the spill.

West Picacho Avenue between Alameda Boulevard and Reymond Street has been closed to traffic and motorists are being asked to seek alternate routes.
