EL PASO, Texas —
El Paso County sheriff's deputies said Maria Honesto, 59, was driving a pickup truck when it crashed into another vehicle.
Honesto was charged with manslaughter, injury to a child and criminal negligent homicide, said deputies.
An investigation conducted by deputies indicated that her 9-month-old grandson, Emilio, was seated in a bouncing chair and not a car seat.
The accident happened at Doniphan Drive and Canutillo Avenue on March 26.
Honesto hasn't been arrested because she is still hospitalized and in serious condition.
